
Ariella Markowitz is a writer, journalist, podcast producer, and musician based in Santa Cruz, California. She started making radio in high school for her local radio station in partnership with the educational non-profit, Transom.
She worked as a reporter with KALW and KQED on the arts/culture, technology, and business beat.
She was a staff producer with Pushkin Industries, where she reported an investigative podcast chronicling the rise of the online sports gambling business, hosted by Michael Lewis. She also produced Incubation, a science storytelling podcast chronicling how scientists defeated the world’s most devious viruses.
She currently is a producer for The Lever, helping to report and write the listener-supported newsroom’s flagship news podcast.
As an audio freelancer, she produced branded content for Apple, Wonder Media Network, The Information, and UC Berkeley.
Ariella is also a jazz pianist and composer. She plays bluegrass banjo for square dances and YouTube alike.
